Cycletouring in Iceland

Photos taken on Dick Phillips' cycle tour of the NW fiords in July 2000. This is a fantastic area to discover from a bicycle saddle - the scenery can't be beaten and there's very little traffic.

new Dick Phillips is willing to organise another, supported, 2 week tour for a viable for group of cyclists in 2008. The daily distance will be about 100km (60 miles) but, since many of the roads are rough and the passes high, you must be capable of riding 160km (100 miles) a day on tarmac in the UK. You will need a touring- or mountain-bike with wide gearing, sturdy tyres, mudguards and panniers. The total cost, including air fares, is unlikely to be less than £1000 / euro1500 / US$2000. Please email me if you are interested in joining such a tour.
