ProCAD ProCAD+ drawing software
for RISC OS and Windows
by David Snell
ProCAD

ProCAD+ is very affordable Computer Aided Drawing software designed for the engineers in the real world. It is what we use at Highpath Engineering to prepare the drawings for everything that we manufacture and for everything that we publish. It assists in the creation of accurate, high quality, 2 dimensional drawings which can be printed, used in desktop publishing, exchanged with other CAD packages and used in Computer Aided Manufacture. There just isn't anything else in its class, possibly on any platform.

(Note : every diagram in this website has been drawn with ProCAD+)

drawing

ProCAD+ has been developed from actual use in drawing offices and engineering workshops to supply all the functions that are most frequently required, in the most accessible form. And, unlike other CAD software, the purchase price covers everything, including all the symbol libraries (for engineers, architects, electricians, etc.), plotter drivers, printed manual and technical support from the author.

Easy to use

ProCAD+ has been designed to be as intuitive as possible and, although incredibly powerful, is really easy to master. Numerous alternative drawing methods allow you to draw the way you want, rather than having to work the way the software demands - which is a common fault with other packages.

It copes with complex drawing procedures in a logical manner. Even difficult operations, like placing multiple copies of something around an elliptical arc, are fast and amazingly straightforward.

tangentIn the screenshot above, the different Drawing Tools are shown down the lefthand side and the different 'Snaps' are at the top - the Fillet Tool and Intercept Snap are in use. Snaps are one of ProCAD's powerful features and allow the accurate placing of items with ease. For example, the 'Tangent snap' ensures that lines are drawn tangentially to circular arcs - simply move the end of a line near to an arc and the pointer will automatically jump to the point of tangency with an audible 'click'.
